Lance Armstrong: “I Give Up”

Lance Armstrong has given up. The seven-time Tour de France winner said Thursday that he's throwing in the towel in his fight against the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency, which is expected to rule that he cheated by using illegal substances, ban him for life from cycling and take away his titles.Armstrong has continually denied using performance enhancing drugs and has never tested positive. After winning the cycling's premiere race from 1999 through 2005, he retired last year.

In a statement on his website, Armstrong said, "There comes a point in every man's life when he has to say, 'Enough is enough.' For me, that time is now. I have been dealing with claims that I cheated and had an unfair advantage in winning my seven Tours since 1999. The toll this has taken on my family and my work for our foundation and on me leads me to where I am today -- finished with this nonsense."
