I am the worst person in the world when it comes to getting rid of anything, believe me. So I want to make it clear that the suggestions here are from someone much wiser and more worried about style than me.

Amanda Lauren, a fashion guru from Cheat Sheet thinks it's a good time to re-evaluate your home and your life and that feeling extends to your closet. If you don't get rid of stuff you don't need or wear, how can you get any new items without over-stuffing your life?

  1. Get rid of clothing that doesn't fit, unless they are only one or two sizes too large, and you love them, in which case you could or should get them altered.
  2. Stained clothing should get the old heave-ho. If they've been there for awhile you probably have no intention of getting them cleaned and you more than likely haven't worn them for quite awhile either.
  3. Shoes that have seen better days? Out! Unless they just need a new heel or thinning soles, which you could get repaired.

Miss Amanda advises you to keep designer and fashion pieces you no longer wear, because you never know when they'll come back into style. Or she suggests selling them if you absolutely don't want or fit in them anymore.

This is great news for me, as I still have my stretchy, pink, junior prom gown and a lovely, lime green, polyester, princess style dress with Pandas all over it, which I can't bear to part with. Maybe I'll wear one of them to our company Christmas party next year!
