It's been almost a decade since David Bowie released a new album and it appears the world was more than ready for it if early sales figures are any indication.

The Next Day will be released in the U.S. Tuesday (March 12), but it has already been released in other parts of the world -- and so far it is doing great.

The deluxe version has entered the iTunes chart at number-one in 11 of the 12 countries where it was released -- Austria, Australia, Belgium, Finland, Germany, Ireland, Netherlands, New Zealand, Sweden, Switzerland and Turkey. The lone holdout is the Czech Republic, where it debuted at number-five.

The Next Day is streaming on iTunes in the States until Tuesday.
