Most of Neil Young's music – including the title song from his upcoming album – is now available for streaming on services like Spotify and Apple Music.

No one from the Young camp has yet commented on this sudden change of heart, which followed a series of statements last year by Young decrying these sites' sound quality. Young instead chose to make his back catalog available on Pono, his own top-line audio platform, and Tidal – which also offers a high-end audio option.

“I don’t need my music to be devalued by the worst quality in the history of broadcasting or any other form of distribution,” he said in July 2015. “I don’t feel right allowing this to be sold to my fans. It’s bad for my music.”

Due on Dec. 2, Peace Trail was previously announced as a mostly acoustic project, but the title track features a snarling guitar very much in keeping with Young's longtime association with Crazy Horse. "Peace Trail" is the second advance song from this project, following "Indian Givers," which Young issued in support of those opposed to the Dakota Access Pipeline on the Standing Rock Indian Reservation along the North and South Dakota border.

You can listen to "Peace Trail" via Spotify below.

Young also played several selections from Peace Trail, including the title track, at the recent Desert Trip Festival in California. This will be his second album of 2016, following the summer release of the live LP Earth. Peace Trail was recorded at Rick Rubin's Shangri-la Studios with bassist Paul Bushnell and drummer Jim Keltner.
