After a series of head scratching Saturdays, Nebraska football fans finally saw a complete performance from the Big Red last weekend, as the Cornhuskers finally cracked the Big Ten win column in 2015. Nebraska returns home this weekend to host Northwestern.

Last Saturday's 48-25 win at Minnesota featured a balanced attack offensively, a dominating performance defensively, three forced turnovers, some big special teams plays, and a minimal number of penalties.

I talked with the 'Voice of the Huskers' Greg Sharpe about the win, which saw Terrell Newby pace the Nebraska ground game with 116 yards, freeing up quarterback Tommy Armstrong to throw for 261 yards and three touchdowns.

Wide receiver Jordan Westerkamp had six catches for 76 yards, Alonzo Moore had a nice day receiving and blocking, while De'Mornay Pierson-El had a touchdown catch and 42-yard punt return.

Defensively, the Big Red limited the Gophers to just 65 yards rushing overall and only nine yards of total offense in the third quarter. Linebacker Josh Banderas returned from injury to notch ten tackles, while Sioux Falls' own Nate Gerry had six tackles, an interception, force fumble, and pass breakup.

#20 Northwestern enters week four of the Big Ten Conference schedule in a funk. The Wildcats, who won five straight against the likes of Stanford, Duke, and Minnesota over the first five weeks, have fallen flat the last two, getting outscored 78-10 in back-to-back losses to Michigan and Iowa.

In last week's 40-10 defeat to the Hawkeyes, Northwestern gave up 24 unanswered points in the second half, only picking up 51 yards on the ground all afternoon, while allowing 294 to Iowa.

Redshirt freshman quarterback Clayton Thorson has been inconsistent at times, while running back Justin Jackson has managed just 55 yards on the ground the past two week, after averaging 127 in the first five games.

Defensively, the Wildcats have been tough against the pass (7th in the nation), but very average against the run.

Nebraska is honoring the undefeated 1995 National Championship at Memorial Stadium this weekend.

Kickoff is 11:00 AM in Lincoln, Saturday. You can follow the Cornhuskers all season long on ESPN 99.1!
