Beatles: Influential? No Kidding

beatles-101409Here's a shocker -- The Beatles are the most influential artist of the last 50 years, according to a poll conducted by the lighter company Zippo. They took in 27 percent of the vote, followed by Queen with 19 percent, The Rolling Stones with 10 percent, David Bowie at 4.7 percent and Jimi Hendrix with 4.4 percnet.

Another Zippo poll asked which song is the most popular one to wave your lighter to, and the winner was Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody" followed by Led Zeppelin's "Stairway to Heaven" and Meat Loaf's "I Would Do Anything for Love (But I Won't Do That)."

   

Dio: First Posthumous Release

DioThe first posthumous Ronnie James Dio release will be a double-live album, according to England's Classic Rock magazine. Dio at Donington UK: Live in 1983 and 1987 will be out on November 9th. It features him and his band performing at the Monsters of Rock Festival.

Dio died in May from cancer earlier this year at age 67.

   

Supertramp: What Agreement?

supertrampAlthough Supertramp reportedly agreed not to perform songs written by founding member Roger Hodgson without him in the band, they're doing so anyway. Their European reunion tour, minus Hodgson, features six songs the singer-guitarist wrote -- "Breakfast in America," "The Logical Song," "Give a Little Bit," "It's Raining Again," "Take the Long Way Home" and "Dreamer."

CHARLIE WATTS SAYS THE ROLLING STONES IN TALKS ABOUT NEXT TOUR

charlie_wattsThe Rolling Stones are in talks regarding their first concert tour since 2006. Drummer Charlie Watts spoke to France's Le Parisien revealing, "We're discussing it at the moment. We said that if we do something, it will be next year or the year after. We've reached an age where you can't look too far into the future."

 

Mick Jagger is 67, Keith Richards is 66, Ron Wood is 63, and Charlie Watts is 69.

METALLICA RELEASING EIGHT-SONG LIVE EP

Metallica will release a limited edition eight-song live EP called Six Feet Down Under on September 20th in conjunction with the band's upcoming tour of Australia and New Zealand. While the disc will be available in stores only in those countries, fans around the world can also order a copy through the group's official website.

EDDIE MONEY EXTENDS TOUR THROUGH DECEMBER

You can't say the guy's not hardworking -- Eddie Money has once again stretched what was thought to be a only a summer tour straight through to December. Money plays tomorrow night (September 10th) in San Diego, and won't wrap up his 2010 dates until December 19th in Las Vegas.

Jimmy Page says that he's toyed with the idea of writing a "posthumous" autobiography. Coming on September 27th from Genesis Publications is the deluxe 500-page leather-bound photo book, titled Jimmy Page By Jimmy Page -- which sells for a little over $685.
