Police Investigate Homicide at Sioux Falls Motel

Authorities responded to an assault at the Arena Motel Monday night January 25, 2016, but it was too late to save the victim.  The suspect, Mark James Lovejoy, was still on the scene at the motel and is in custody at approximately 10:30 PM.

Sioux Falls Police were dispatched to the Arena Motel, 2401 W. Russell St. #21 for a fight disturbance.  Upon arrival Officers located the victim laying in the parking lot.

The investigation revealed Lovejoy and the victim were arguing.  The argument became physical and moved into the parking lot.  An acquaintance of the victim tried to stop the fight and was assaulted by Lovejoy as well.  The victim was transported to Sanford Hospital where he died from his injuries.

Lovejoy is in custody for assault and homicide charges and the investigation is ongoing.
