The Minnesota Vikings first game in their new stadium is more than three years away, but we may already know who they'll play first in their new digs.

Vikings Vice President Lester Bagley told KARE 11 that the team’s first game in its new stadium in 2016 will likely come against the Vikes biggest rival:

The way the league is structured, we’ll probably — our very first regular-season game will likely be against the Green Bay Packers.

So it will be good to see Adrian Peterson break loose and score the first touchdown in the new stadium and run over Clay Matthews on his way to the end zone. We’ll see. Hopefully we’ll have the last word when we get to opening day in 2016.

Groundbreaking for the new 65,000-seat stadium will take place in October.  The stadium is expected to cost $975 million.

Looking for some precedent?  Ten years ago when the Packers opened remodeled Lambeau Field, their first opponent was the Vikings.

Oh by the way - the Vikings won that day 30-25.  The Pack would love to return the favor in 2016.
