Minnesota Vikings defensive tackle Shariff Floyd had minor knee surgery early this week and the team has announced he will miss the rest of the preseason.

Head Coach Leslie Frazier says the plan is to have Floyd back for their Week 1 game against Detroit.

Floyd was injured in the Vikings preseason opener against Houston, but the the first-round draft pick walked off on his own power.

In other Vikings news, the team put defensive lineman Christian Ballard on the active-left squad for personal reasons. Ballard hasn't practiced since the Vikings preseason opener and the Vikings think he may dealing with a groin pull.

With the absences of Floyd and Ballard, the Vikings signed defensive lineman Spencer Nealy, an undrafted free agent out of Texas A&M. Nealy, 6'3", and 285, was recently released by Detroit.
