Not everyone wanted to kick Minnesota Vikings kicker Blair Walsh in the keister after he missed the 27-yard chip shot on Sunday, that would have advanced the Vikings into the divisional round of the playoffs. A class of first-graders instead kicked a series of pick-me-up messages in his direction, that scored them a visit from the kicker.

A first-grade class from Northpoint Elementary in Blaine, Minnesota recently sent the Vikings kicker a batch of supportive letters and drawings. Teacher Judie Offerdahl thought the missed kick Walsh had on Sunday during the game against the Seahawks would be a great teachable moment for her first-graders. So, the students grabbed their magic markers and started drawing and writing.

One youngster wrote. “Dear Blair Walsh, I know it can be hard to get through things that are sad, but you have to try and try again. Everyone makes mistakes sometimes.”

Offerdahl packaged up all the letters the children did and sent them off to Walsh through the team.

Walsh was so touched by the gesture from the children, that he plans to make a visit to his young fans at their school Thursday morning, January 14, to express his gratitude, take photos and sign autographs.
