One year before a self-imposed Big Ten ban on scheduling FCS schools, Minnesota has decided to drop South Dakota State from the 2015 schedule, replacing the Jackrabbits with TCU.

The Gophers made the announcement in a press release Tuesday:

Minnesota will visit TCU in Fort Worth, Texas, on Sept. 13, 2014, before hosting the Horned Frogs on Sept. 3, 2015.

The 2014 game fills an empty date on Minnesota’s schedule, while the 2015 contest replaces a previously scheduled home game that the Gophers had against South Dakota State.

According to the Argus Leader, Minnesota has transferred the SDSU contract to TCU, and the Horned Frogs expect to play the Jacks in 2015 or pay a $400,000 buyout.

SDSU has scheduled games with FBS opponents in four of the next six seasons: Nebraska in 2013, Missouri in 2014, TCU in 2015, and Iowa State in 2018.
