UPDATE: Friday night I had to practically arm wrestle the remote away from my son Tad. I won, and I'm glad. I tuned into the NFR just in time to see Granite Falls, Minnesota Cowboy Tanner Aus go off on a bronc to win the round.

It's hard to get enough sleep lately. The National Finals Rodeo is in full swing in Las Vegas, Nevada and I would imagine that more than a hand full of rodeo fans feel the same way. You see for rodeo folks it's a glorious time of year.

The other day I was talking with Tom Richter (Executive Director of Swiftel Center in Brookings, SD) and he mentioned that he and Tanner Aus are from the same hometown, Granite Falls, Minnesota. I was intrigued so I asked if we might be able to line up an interview. Tom said, you bet. Calls were made and Tuesday afternoon we had Aus on before the 6th round of the NFR.

I asked Tanner if bareback riders ever opened their eyes while riding and he was kind enough to walk me through what he thinks about while riding.

We also talked about family. Tanner has twin sisters who are attending SDSU and are members of the rodeo team there.

And we talked about his ride for Tuesday nights performance at the NFR.

He's about nice as a guy you'll ever talk to and we wish him the best on tonight's ride and for the rest of the finals. If you'd like to follow Tanner on Facebook or Instagram (Tanner Aus 45)  he would appreciate that as well!

Here are the final results from the NFR from Review Journal.com:
