Mike Miller is Reuniting with LeBron James in Cleveland

Mitchell native Mike Miller is going to take less money and head to Cleveland to play with LeBron James again. 

Here's the skinny - the Denver Nuggets offered Miller a three-year deal worth 12 million, but instead, the South Dakota native is signing a two-year contract worth 5.5 million to play with James and try to win a third championship. (Miller won back-to-back championships in Miami in 2012 and 2013).

Last season, Miller stayed healthy, and played in all 82 games. He helped lead the Memphis Grizzlies to the playoffs, but lost to Oklahoma City in the first round in seven games. He shot 48.1% from the field and 45.9% from long range while averaging 7.1 points, and 2.5 rebounds per game.

In his 14-year career, Miller is averaging 11.8 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 2.8 assists while shooting 46.2% from the field, and 40.9% from behind the arc.

In June, Miller visited Sioux Falls to coach kids at the annual Sanford Legends basketball clinic at the Sanford Pentagon. ESPN 99.1's Sam Tastad had the chance to catch up with him.

Miller told Tastad that he feels healthy and thinks he has a few more great years ahead of him.

"“I mean, I feel great. If you would have told me 20 years ago that I would play 14 years in the NBA, be Rookie of the Year, Sixth Man of the Year, and have two world championships, you know, you look back at that, and think about it. I don’t want to sit and think about it yet because I don’t want to be done. I think I have three or four more good years left in me, and see how it plays out.”

 

Miller also loved the chance to play with James, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Bosh in Miami, and I'm sure he is looking forward to reuniting with LeBron in Cleveland.

“Awesome. They are the best players in the world to play with. Not only does everyone see how good of players they are, but good teammates. Great guys to be around, and that’s how you win championships. The difference between good teams and great teams.”
