A Rolling Stone gathers no moss, but he can put together an impressive brood of children: Mick Jagger and his girlfriend, ballerina Melanie Hamrick, have announced the birth of their son.

The baby boy is the couple's first child together, but Jagger's been busy on the procreative front for some time: the 73-year-old singer has seven other children, with ages ranging from 46 to 17, as well as five grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.

"Melanie Hamrick and Mick Jagger's son was born today in New York and they are both delighted," reads a statement from the couple. "Mick was at the hospital for the arrival. Mother and baby are doing well and we request that the media respect their privacy at this time."

Jagger's new addition marks the second birth announcement in the Rolling Stones fold this year: in May, guitarist Ron Wood welcomed twins with his wife, theater producer Sally Wood. Perhaps not surprisingly, Jagger was among the first to meet them; as Wood later recalled, "Mick popped in on the third day. He couldn't wait to see them, I put one in each arm and took a photo."

It's been a busy year on multiple fronts for the Stones, who toured throughout the year — including stops in Cuba and sets at the all-star Desert Trip Festival — and closed out 2016 with the release of Blue & Lonesome, their first studio album in more than a decade. More new material could be on the way, as Jagger has recently said the band has "half an album" of originals written.
