Joseph Patterson made national headlines when he was arrested and charged in the death of a two year old Sioux Falls boy, plead not guilty to all charges and was released on bond today (October 29)

Patterson is charged with Second Degree Murder, with alternative counts of First Degree Manslaughter, Aggravated Battery of a Minor, and Abuse or Cruelty to a Minor in connection with the October 11th death of Tyrese Robert Ruffin.

Ruffin and his mother had recently moved to Sioux Falls. She was dating Patterson, but Ruffin's biological father was Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson.

Patterson's family posted the $750,000 bond according to the Lincoln County State's Attorney. There were no stipulations placed on his bond to remain in Lincoln or Minnehaha counties in South Dakota.

A pre-trial hearing in the case was set for January 13, 2014.
