Madison, South Dakota residents are urged to conserve water and are under a boil order after the roof fell in on the clear well Wednesday evening (January 15), contaminating the city's water supply.

The mayor of Madison is urging residents to use water sparingly and to boil the water before using it until further notice. Residents must heat water to a rolling boil for at least one minute before using for drinking, showering, washing, etc.

Because of the water restrictions, there is no school Thursday at Madison, Madison Central and St. Thomas.

If you have any questions, call Madison City Hall at 605-270-1668.

The restrictions are expected to last at least 24 hours.
