Music producer Phil Ramone has been hospitalized in New York City after suffering an aortic aneurysm. Although the details of his condition are scarce at this time, Billboard reports that he is in critical care. Ramone is 72 years old.

Ramone’s impressive catalog of work dates back to the '60s when he worked with artists like Quincy Jones and Peter, Paul & Mary. His career spans six massive decades through his most recent 2012 projects with Tony Bennett and George Michael.

He is often heralded for his exceptional work with some of the world's premiere vocalists and songwriters from Billy Joel and Paul Simon to Bob Dylan and Aretha Franklin.

It would be an understatement to say that his work has been highly recognized by his peers and the music industry with 33 Grammy nominations, 14 Grammy Awards and an Emmy throughout his tenure, to name just a few of the many awards he’s received.

Ramone also writes a music blog for the Huffington Post with singer-songwriter Danielle Evin dubbed ‘Dog Ears Music.’ You can read their latest entry here.

Thoughts and prayers go out to Phil for a speedy recovery!
