MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The Metrodome is hosting its final college baseball games this week.

The University of Minnesota will play its last baseball game at the Dome ever on Wednesday. The Golden Gophers will take on South Dakota State at 6:35 p.m.

The Dome’s college baseball schedule wraps up Saturday with a game between North Dakota State and North Dakota.

The Minnesota Sports Facilities Authority has been getting calls from colleges looking to book baseball games in early April if the weather doesn’t clear up.

Plans call for the Metrodome to be torn down early next year to make way for the Minnesota Vikings’ new stadium. The Vikings’ new stadium will be designed to accommodate a baseball field.
