The man charged in the death of Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson's son last fall in Sioux Falls is back in jail on new charges including kidnapping and aggravated assault against the child's mother in Sioux Falls Tuesday night.

28-year old Joseph Patterson was out on a $750,000 bond paid by his parents after the death of 2-year old Tyrese Ruffin who was the child of his girlfriend and Peterson.

Late Tuesday night, prosecutors said Patterson strangled his ex-girlfriend, Ruffin's mother, to the point she lost consciousness and left marks on her neck while holding her against her will for over an hour allegedly.

The woman's sister was able to call police.

The Minnehaha County State's Attorney argued for, and received, a $1 million cash bond this time for Patterson who violated the no contact order against his victim. Patterson even tried to call her from jail an hour before his court appearance Wednesday afternoon.

With these new charges, Patterson faces life in prison.
