Jimmy Johnson won Sunday's NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Johnson took over the lead for for good from Matt Kenseth with just 17 laps remaining in the race.

Johnson is locked into the Round of 8 for the Sprint Cup with the victory. Since the elimination format came into play in 2014, Johnson has never made it out of the Round of 12.

Kenseth finished in second. Johnson and Kenseth were the only drivers in The Chase finishing the Charlotte race in the top five.

Several Chase contenders had huge problems like Martin Truex, Jr. stalling on pit road. Denny Hamlin was running in second when he lost an engine.

Kevin Harvick had the pole, but his day ended earlier than he would have liked it to with electrical problems. Joey Logano cracked the wall twice with tires going down.

A big wreck on lap 258 on a restart shook everything up in the running order. It involved Austin Dillon and Chase Elliott who were both running in the top five at the time.

At the checkered flag behind Johnson and Kenseth, it was Kasey Kahne in third, Ryan Newman fourth and Kyle Larson fifth. See where your driver finished.

Sunday's race was originally scheduled for Saturday night. But was moved to Sunday due to weather conditions triggered by Hurricane Matthew.
