A rock and rolll Hall of Famer has been added to the bill of a great night of music this Labor Day weekend in the Upper Midwest.

Joan Jett and her band, The Blackhearts, will be opening for Sammy Hagar and The Circle, Sunday, September 4, 2016, at Divots Event Center in Norfolk, Nebraska.

Joan burst on to the music scene in the mid-1970's as a member of one of rock's first all-female groups, The Runaways. The band's best known song, 'Cherry Bomb', landed just outside the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States, but, did go all the way to #1 in Japan.

After The Runaways broke up in 1979, Joan formed The Blackhearts and after being rejected by more than 20 different record companies, she started her own label, Blackheart Records.

The band's self-titled first album hit it big in 1981, thanks to a cover version of the Arrows 1975 song, 'I Love Rock 'n' Roll'. The Blackhearts' version spent seven weeks at #1 in the U.S. in 1982, and helped the album sell more than 10 million copies worldwide.

Eight more Top 40 singles followed over the next eight years. In all, Joan has 14 studio albums to her credit.

Last year, Joan Jett and The Blackhearts were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Tickets for the Sammy Hagar/Joan Jett show at Divots Event Center go on sale Friday, February 5, 2016. General admission tickets are $50.
