Jimmy Page Autobiography To See Wide Release
This October, Jimmy Page will offer his official autobiography for wide release, having issued ‘Jimmy Page by Jimmy Page’ as a limited-edition project back in 2010. The book, presented as a photographic essay with personal insights offered via the captions, was personally overseen by Page.
“I’ve been asked on a number of occasions to do a written book and I thought of the other side of the coin,” Page tells Billboard. “I thought it would be unique to have an autobiography in photographs, charting my whole musical journey. It was important to include every milestone along the way, so people who were fans of the music have got a real testament of the times.”
The book opens a lid on the intensely private guitarist’s personal archives, showcasing never-before-seen photographs, and memorabilia like working visas and passports — which help trace Led Zeppelin‘s many tour dates around the world. (The book’s cover image, in fact, is a 1977 passport photo, shot on board Zeppelin’s private plane.) He’s also included relevant items from fanzines and other publications, as well as portraits of Page taken by a variety of well-known photographers.
“All those artifacts really make up a complete picture, which just keeps unfolding as you turn each page of the book,” Page said.
