The next phase of fixing the bulges on the new event center will be a proving ground to see which way works best.

The Denny Sanford PREMIER Center will open on time, but a little bit of work called a “mock-up” will determine the next course to be taken.  The current exterior metal siding is graded as “nonconforming work”.

Starting September 8 areas to the left and right of the southwest entrance will get a make over with the work to be done by mid-October.

“The metal panels will not detract from how much fans will enjoy their experience in this building,” says Mark Cotter, Director of Public Works. “However, we want to make sure every inch of this beautiful building is completely correct, and the project team is very engaged in finding the right solution.”

According to City Attorney David Pfeifle, this construction phase will not add any cost to the project.  However, Pfeifle says it is currently unclear who will bear the cost of the remainder of the panels once the correct method of repair is chosen.
