One of the sure signs of fall and one that brings on pangs of nostalgia is the Buffalo Roundup in South Dakota's Custer State Park. According to Travel South Dakota.com,

Each fall, the ground rumbles and the dust flies as cowboys, cowgirls and park crews saddle up to bring in the thundering herd. The annual roundup, held the last Friday in September, is open to the public. In 2017, the Roundup is scheduled for September 29.

If you've ever seen the movie Dances With Wolves you get a mini version of what will actually be going on. If your schedule allows, get out, breath in the dust and check out what people say is a must attend event.

I have never been to one of the roundups, but it's on my bucket list of South Dakota things to do.
