The NBA Development League season is a 50-game gauntlet.  Rosters are constantly in flux so the team you see in game 10 may not be the same team at game 20.

Sioux Falls knew going into the early part of the season that the Skyforce had to take advantage of a home-heavy schedule to establish a winning tone.  Mission accomplished.  Through November and December 14 games were played with 10 of them at home winning 11 dropping 3.

Turning the calendar to 2014 has not been so kind for the Miami Heat affiliate.  Three games and three losses drop their record to 11-6, which is still third-best in the NBADL.  Which is a way of saying a big pack of teams can legitimately say as of January 10 the playoffs are possible.  Sioux Falls is one of them, of course and their opponent this weekend is Tulsa who has stumbled to a 4-14 record so far.

Easy pickings?  Not really.  A stretch of seven losses in December contained five close ones and two legitimate blowouts.  One of the wide margins came at the hands of the Skyforce with a much closer verdict one night later at the Sanford Pentagon.

The addition of NBA veteran and former Skyforce standout Reggie Williams has elevated the level of play greatly over the past seven games. Tulsa has accumulated a 3-4 record during that stretch.  Plus Sioux Falls dropped an 82-80 overtime decision at SpiritBank Event Center in early December.  Nothing is guaranteed.

Should there be concern?  Wait until Saturday night.  If Tulsa’s point output zooms past 100 on both nights of this back-to-back, then the eyebrows can start their upward motion regardless of who wins.  Since the Skyforce staff has committed to preaching the gospel of defending, they need to keep the 66ers close to their average of almost 97 points per outing.
