I Love My Dog and All, but Come on – Braces?

If you haven't seen the photo of the cute, little golden retriever puppy wearing braces that's going around social media - you will. It's gone viral as they say.

Ladies and gentlemen - spending money to put braces on a dog? Can someone please explain to me how this makes any sense?

Now don't get me wrong, I love my dog and all - but I'm not about to spend a boat load of money to have braces put on her teeth. SHE'S A DOG!!!

In fact, I had my dog to the vet just the other day, and we stumbled upon this very subject. She asked me if I had seen the picture on Facebook of the dog wearing braces.

I do know of someone (who shall remain nameless) who spent over 10 thousand dollars running tests on their dog - only to have her die two weeks later.

Maybe it's the farm boy in me, but how can anyone justify spending that kind of money on a family pet. And don't give me "well he/she is a member of the family."

No, he or she is an animal that will eat its own poop if you let it!!!

Should you ever be confronted with the decision about whether to put braces on your dog, do me a favor. Instead, donate that money to Feeding South Dakota to help feed the hungry.

As far as your dog is concerned, he or she will be just fine eating soft food rather than hard. Trust me, they won't know the difference.
