A road project that begins soon will affect travel in and around northern Sioux Falls.

The South Dakota Department of Transportation says the work will involve the interchange on Interstate 90 and North Cliff Avenue.

The DOT says restrictions will be posted in the eastbound lanes of I-90 so workers can install guardrail and make temporary concrete repairs.

Cliff Avenue interchange ramp traffic will continue, but the ramps will be narrower, and DOT officials say motorists should expect merging and the sudden slowing of traffic, while being aware of construction workers and equipment.

The interchange work is part of an overall $17.4 million project at I-90 and North Cliff, which is expected to be completed in early November.
