Hybrid Cars Too Quiet

There's apparently a growing concern in this country that hybrid cars are too quiet - to the point where the federal government is proposing a rule requiring automakers to make electric and hybrid cars noisier.

If you have any ideas, or want to comment on the rule proposal, you have 60 days to contact your congressional delegation.

So whatever happened to individual responsibility in this country?  Here's an idea, how about you take out those ear buds and take your eyes off your iPad or Smart Phone and pay attention.

"But what about the visually impaired?"  That's completely different.  Once that white cane hits the pavement it's your responsibility to be on the lookout, not the other way around.

But when it comes to everyone else - you're not my responsibility.  If you're stupid enough to walk across the street without looking both ways, I can't help you there.  Like Forrest Gump said, "Stupid is as stupid does."

As far as making hybrid cars noisier - how about we do like when we were kids and clamp some playing cards onto each tire!
