It looks like the person who is likely to replace former Sioux Falls Fire Rescue Chief Jim Sideras will be Division Chief Brad Goodroad.

Mayor Mike Huether recommended Goodroad for the position on Friday morning (May 19) during an announcement he made from the City Hall Commission Room.

Goodroad has been serving as interim chief since Jim Sideras’ departure in early May.

KDLT News is reporting that just because Huether recommended Goodroad for the position, doesn’t mean he is guaranteed to get the job. The Sioux Falls City Council must still approve Goodroad first.

The City Councily is expected to discuss and vote on Goodroad’s appointment on (June 6) according to KDLT News.

Should Goodroad receive the position, he will be taking over the reigns of SFFR from former Chief Jim Sideras, who had held that position since July of 2011.

Sideras had planned to retire from his post at the end of June, after spending nearly 34 years with Sioux Falls Fire Rescue. However, May 2 was actually Sideras’ last day of employment with the city after a warrant was issued to search his home.

Sideras was ultimately arrested and charged with 10 counts of possession of child pornography on May 8.
