In partnership with the Sioux Falls Fire Rescue, Live Well Sioux Falls and the City of Sioux Falls Health Department, the American Red Cross fire campaign will have its fourth event to install smoke alarms in homes that need them.

"This Saturday we will be canvassing the neighborhood around Garfield," according to Jennifer Ross of the American Red Cross.

"We will be offering free smoke alarm installation to neighbors there as well as offering blood pressure tests. We will be meeting at the Garfield School at the Oyate Community Center. Volunteers from the community who are interested in helping us out should arrive then between nine and nine thirty. We will train them and get them started."

Ross says the campaign can save lives!

"Sioux Falls has had thirty three months since our last fatality. We believe the more homes we can get into and provide smoke alarms---that cuts the chance of death or injury from fire in half. We are proud to be part of a program that is making the world safer for Sioux Falls."

Ross says seven times a day someone in the country dies in a fire.
