Will Liam Neeson and Woody Harrelson Hunt Down Bonnie and Clyde in ‘Highwaymen’?
The story of outlaw bank robbers Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow was made iconic in the film ‘Bonnie and Clyde,’ but it looks like we’ll soon be getting a movie that tells the story from the other side of the law. Development is moving ahead on ‘Highwaymen,’ the story of the Texas Rangers who shot down the infamous couple, and a pair of true badasses are being sought for the leads.
According to Deadline, Oscar nominees Liam Neeson and Woody Harrelson are being courted to star in the film, which will tell the true story of Frank Hamer, a lawman who led the team that tracked down the most notorious duo of the 1930s. We’re not sure which characters Neeson and Harrelson might portray, but you can’t go wrong with either of ’em (both men would wear the hell out of period lawman clothing).
On the small screen, History and Lifetime are revving up for their four-part ‘Bonnie & Clyde‘ miniseries, which will air simultaneously on both channels. Emile Hirsch and Holliday Grainger are playing the title roles, while William Hurt will be playing the Hamer role.
‘Highwaymen’ is targeting an early 2014 start, after the miniseries, and will be directed by John Lee Hancock, the director of ‘The Rookie,’ ‘The Alamo’ and ‘The Blind Side.’
