You can’t put a price on a good education. Or maybe you can.

Manatee High School, in Bradenton, Florida, has raised eyebrows by charging for premium seats at its upcoming graduation.

The school is charging $200 to sit an entire bench near the end zone of the school’s football field, which will hold the ceremony on May 31. Each bench can hold about 15 people.

While it may be controversial, it worked – all 10 rows up for sale sold out in about four hours.

One man, who had multiple children graduate from the school, thinks it’s ridiculous, noting, "It's being discriminatory. It's just not fair."

Another parent who has a child in Manatee doesn’t quite get it, either:

Two hundred dollars is a lot of money for a preferred seating. Is my child more important than yours?"

The $200 price tag comes on the heels of the school’s earlier mandate that students cough up $20 to participate in graduation.

As you may have guessed, the school is facing a shortfall of cash and has received fewer funds for graduation that it traditionally has, so these are measures to help defray expenses. Graduation is expected to cost somewhere between $10,000 and $12,000.
