Autumn days and nights are filled with so many great opportunities to take your dog for a walk, enjoy all the fall colors along the Sioux Falls bike paths or right in your own neighborhood, and get a little a exercise for both you and your pet.

Now you can take your pup for a stroll, while pumping a little extra dough into the animal shelter of your choice, and get this, it doesn't cost you a cent.

There's a new, free app called "Walk for a Dog" that uses the GPS on your phone to track how far you walk your dog. Then it donates a certain amount of money to an animal shelter of your choice, depending on how far you walk.

Okay, so what's the catch, right?

Well here's how it works, the money is raised from sponsorship deals and ads, and you can raise anywhere from 10 to 25 cents per mile.

Nearly 100,000 people have already downloaded the app, and gone on 800,000 walks, raising over $10,000 cash! And like I said, you get to choose where the money goes. You know the animal shelters here in the Sioux Empire would love that!

There is an option where a person can search for animal shelters in your area.
