Harrisburg Students Experience the ‘Shark Tank’
While the students didn't actually get the chance to convince real life sharks like billionaire Mark Cuban, Lori Greiner or Mr. Wonderful, Kevin O'Leary, to give them funding for a product they developed. They did receive a valuable learning experience on what it feels like to pitch some area entrepreneurs who were playing the role of “sharks” for the day.
The students were given four weeks to come up with a viable solution to the problem. The little entrepreneurs put their heads together and created several ideas ranging from edible water bottles to trash-scooping products.
Once they arrived on what they felt was the perfect idea, the students created a prototype to present to the guest "sharks."
Darren Ellwein, Principal of Harrisburg South Middle School, feels a project like this one, gives students a chance to be creative and develop problem-solving skills.
Ellwein told KDLT News, this is the first year the school has tried a project like this. Chances are another a group of students will get the opportunity to dive back into the shark tank again next year.
