'Guardians of the Galaxy' hasn't even hit theaters yet, but we know it's got at least one major connection to 'The Avengers.' Aside from the two films existing in the same cinematic playground, the intergalactic "Mad Titan" known as Thanos will be the future nemesis of The Avengers, in addition to being the puppet master of the villains in 'Guardians.' Does this mean Marvel will have both teams of superheroes eventually join forces for one big team-up?

This is what the IGN crew was thinking when they spoke to Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige, to which he replied:

Part of the fun of the comics is that could happen. Any character could interact with any other character because they inhabit the same time period and the same universe. And certainly it is the inclusion of Thanos most specifically that is a declaration to audiences who are paying attention that this is connected to those other universes. Part of the fun is that it could happen someday. I don’t know when that would be. Or maybe I know and I’m not going to tell you!

This definitely seems like the plan, but the two casts have some time before that happens. 'Guardians of the Galaxy' hits theaters this August 1, and Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax, Rocket, and Groot will do battle against Ronan the Accuser -- and there's even talk of a sequel. We also recently got our first look at 'Avengers 2,' hitting theaters in May 2015, which sees the team battling the human-exterminating sentient creature Ultron. It seems like the next logical step would be to have the Guardians and Avengers combine for 'Avengers 3,' which has already been announced. (Or perhaps a certain Avengers character could make his or her way into outer space?) But if you need even more hints, 'GOTG' director James Gunn already said, "We're definitely connected to 'Avengers 3.'"

While we wait for more information (perhaps at Comic-Con next week), Marvel unveiled the first clip from 'Guardians of the Galaxy,' featuring our lead hero Star-Lord/Peter Quill (Chris Pratt) as he tries to steal a coveted orb that has world-destroying capabilities. Check it out below.
