Groundbreaking Day For University of South Dakota
Today is the day the University of South Dakota breaks ground for new athletic facilities.
The heart of the $66 million project is a 6,000 seat arena for basketball and volleyball.
The facility will be connected to the existing Dakotadome by a Science, Health and Research Laboratory.
Last year, when the State Board of Regents gave the university approval for the project, they also gave the go-ahead for $7 million for an outdoor soccer and track facility.
The entire project is scheduled to be completed before the start of the 2016-17 academic year.
