This is not the way I wanted to start my day.  I get into work only to read two new health related studies that hit right at home - for me at least.

The first study had to do with the way I use my smart phone.  I know I'm not alone, many of us are guilty of it, always looking down checking out the smart phone.  Well, doctors have determined that it's not only bad for your posture - but can actually lead to permanent damage of the spine.

Doctors often times refer to the condition as 'tech neck', and say 'tech neck' can even lead to something called 'turkey neck', meaning there's less tension in the skin located on the front of your neck so it hangs like that of a turkey.

Okay - now as if that isn't bad enough - there's also yet another study out claiming if you sit too much you're more likely to face declining health and possibly early death.

This is not the first study to make such a claim.  Several studies have linked too much 'butt time' to a higher risk of cancer, heart disease, and diabetes.

This recent study, published in the Annals of Internal Medicine, was done by a team of Canadian researchers who found that even if you try to balance it out by exercising - you can't undo the damage.

Their recommendation is you try to sit fewer than eight hours a day.  By doing so, they've determined you can lower your risk of hospitalization by as much as 14%.
