The government shutdown has now gone on for more than a week. It's put many employees out of work, delayed the disbursement of benefits and has left all Americans feeling frustrated and angry. But now it appears the shutdown has finally gone too far, hitting us right in the beer gut.

The Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau is affected by the shutdown, and that means they can't process new applications from craft brewers. So, some of the new seasonal craft beers you love and have been waiting for may not arrive for a while.

Of course, beer drinkers will still get to enjoy most of their favorite beers that are already on store shelves, but the shutdown will slow overall beer production when most Americans feel like they need more beer now than ever.

Looks like the lines at the liquor store are going to get a little longer while we stock up!
