Country music artists and fans reflect on the original Rhinestone Cowboys passing.

According to Taste of Country

Campbell died on Tuesday (Aug. 8) after a battle with Alzheimer’s at a care facility in Nashville. Universal Music Group confirmed the singer’s death to Rolling Stone, and Campbell’s publicist, Tim Plumley, issued a statement from Campbell’s family that reads, “It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and legendary singer and guitarist, Glen Travis Campbell, at the age of 81, following his long and courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease.”

Glen’s music will be played in heavy rotation, stories of his life, and concerts will be shared.

Reliving stories and special moments of people is how we honor their memory, and Glen Campbell touched the hearts, and ears of many.

My dad brought me these pictures taken in the 80’s when Glen Campbell played the Sioux Empire Fair in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Not only did Glen play songs he also played along with a local radio station by helping them give away a classic truck.

Listeners of KXRB had the opportunity to write their names on the truck, and whichever random name a blind folded Glen Campbell pointed to won the truck!

You can see Glen rocking the radio stations t-shirt on stage, and as he’s being led around the grand prize giveaway truck.

I’m not sure if the 1932 Ford from the picture is still on the road but KXRB, a station I’ve listened to since I was a kid, is still on the radio.

KXRB “South Dakotas Country Leader” is still going strong at 1140 AM and 100.1 FM.

Here is a video of one of my favorite songs by Glen, the writing is brilliant, and the video beautifully done.

Thanks Glen for all the music and the memories. We will miss you.
