After over a year of fundraising, Mitchell Girl Scouts Troop 57005 raised over $5,500 through a GoFundMe account to give three veterans a "proper headstone." According to the Mitchellrepublic, last October, the troop kicked off a fundraiser to raise at least $1,000 for a headstone of a late veteran, who had died more than 80 years ago.

So on Monday, the troop had a ceremony honoring the three headless graves with a new $700 headstone on each one. With money left over, the troop is planning on on purchasing more headstones.

The good deed caught the attention of U.S. Representative Kristi Noem who sent a letter to the girls thanking them for their hard work.
