Leading up to the release on Tuesday (April 23) of ‘Frequency Unknown’ from Geoff Tate’s Queensryche, fans were quite critical of the quality of the sound they heard through previews made available on digital retailers. Tate and company have come to the table with a solution though, remixing the disc and offering free replacements to any fans that purchased the release and are unhappy.

Tate spoke to ‘The Continental Breakfast’ radio show, explaining the decision. "We were a little rushed on the mixing end of it, so after listening to it back, we're having some of the songs remixed now before the album comes out,” said Tate. “But that's typical with records - you have to have them in on time. So sometimes you compromise in areas.”

Tate is satisfied with the fix, explaining, Luckily, with this situation, we get to go back and correct some areas in the sound where we thought it was kind of lacking. So that's fine.”

Fans sharing Tate’s thoughts on the lackluster mix have been advised by Cleopatra Records to turn in their disc for a new one. All fans have to do is email a scan of the receipt for the physical copy of  ‘Frequency Unknown’ to Queensryche@cleorecs.com and a replacement will be sent out at no charge and no questions asked.

Geoff Tate’s Queensryche is currently out on their ‘25th Anniversary Operation: Mindcrime' tour. Check out all the dates here.

In other news, the Todd La Torre-fronted version of Queensryche is currently hard at work on a new disc too, due out in June.
