Sunday afternoon my wife and I were having dinner with friends when they mentioned they had tried to gas up at HyVee at 26th & Marion Road in Sioux Falls and found the station was out of everything except premium. They went to the HyVee at 49th & Louise and found the same thing.

I checked the radio station Facebook page after dinner and found a post from a listener who wrote that she had tried three different stations before being able to find gas. Monday evening, Jason Beaumont posted the picture above from the HyVee on Minnesota Avenue on his page thanking us for tipping him off that there was apparently a bit of a gas shortage in town right now.

So what's going on?

According to reports, the E-10 gasoline (or Super Unleaded) has been hard to come by as a local supplier has been down for several weeks and new federal regulations limiting the number of hours drivers can be on the road has been slowing deliveries, but most expect to be fully stocked again within a week.

That being said, with the continued cold weather, it'd probably be smart to keep your tank topped off the next time you drive by a station that doesn't have the 'out of gas' signs taped to the pumps.
