A home in rural Garretson burned completely to the ground Monday evening.  Firefighters were only alerted to the house fire after the homeowner returned home to discover the house had burned down.

Firefighters with the Garretson Volunteer Fire Department responded to reports of a fire at a home at 25241 482nd Ave. The rural home had completely burned to the ground Monday evening. Garretson fire chief Ryan Longhenry and the volunteer fire department responded to the call. No one was at home during the blaze and there were no reports of injury.

According to the Argus Leader:

Cheif Longhenry said thick fog in the area Monday and the remote location of the house may have lessened the visibility of the fire, so neighbors may not have seen it. He said because there is so little of the house left, fire officials are unsure where the fire started or what the cause was.
