A 33-year old Minnesota woman riding a bicycle along Highway 270 and pulling a trailer with her 4-year old and one-year old children was hit and killed by a Madison, South Dakota native Monday just before noon. The children were injured in the accident and one remains hospitalized in the tragic accident.

The driver, 25-year old Christopher Weber was distracted while doing online banking on his phone. Weber is a South Dakota National Guard member who helped sweep for roadside bombs in Afghanistan in 2009 and 2010. He also received an award for sandbagging in Dakota Dunes during the 2011 flooding. When the Highway Patrol arrived on the accident scene, Weber was administering CPR on Boeve.

Weber is being held on a $20,000 bond and faces charges of vehicular homicide and vehicular injury. He faces 13 years in prison.
