Are you ready? You know. For colder weather?

I did some checking. Last year our first Freeze Warning came on October 15. We're just a couple days early this year with our first Freeze Warning set for Wednesday, October 12.

And a freeze warning can get you thinking about a lot of things. Here are a few that come to my mind.

  1. Tires. Yep, you'll want to keep an eye on your tires. Wintertime or cooler weather inflation can vary greatly. They're gonna be lower. Keep an eye on it.
  2. See those pickups pulling generators behind them lately. They're the blow out the sprinkler guys. If you haven't called them yet, give them a buzz. As a precaution, you might want to shut off your water line 'inside the house' that feeds your sprinkler system.
  3. Cover em or loose them. You'll probably see some bed sheets out tonight on flowers and tomato plants.
  4. Leaf colors. When it gets cold it seems to speed up the color change. Watch for that the next few days.
  5. Where's your scrapper? If you park outside, you'll want to know. While you're at it this weekend, be lining up jumper cables.
  6. Lower the blade when you mow. A shorter cut on the lawn will help the grass stand up under the snow that's coming.
  7. Empty hoses and put em away.
  8. Line up winter jackets.
  9. Line up sweatshirts and jackets.
  10. Bake some cookies!  Nothing smells better than fresh baked cookies in the house on a cool evening!
