Former South Dakota State Head Coach Scott Nagy Introduced at Wright State

The dawning of a new era of Wright State men's basketball signaled the end of an era at South Dakota State, Tuesday, as former Jackrabbit coach Scott Nagy took over as the Raiders new head coach.

Nagy and two of his former SDSU assistants, Clint Sargent and Brian Cooley, met the media at an on-campus press conference, in Dayton, Ohio.

The Raiders had been in the market for a new head coach after firing Billy Donlon last month, following six seasons. Donlon was let go despite having two years left on his contract. He was the Horizon League Coach of the Year in 2013 and led the Raiders to the league tournament championship game in three of the last four seasons. This season, WSU finished 22-13.

Nagy just finished his 21st season in Brookings as the winningest coach in SDSU history. His overall record at South Dakota State is 410-239. In his first nine seasons, the Jackrabbits won 20 games or more eight times, captured four North Central Conference titles, and advanced to the NCAA Division II Elite Eight in 1997.

After three Division I transition years in which SDSU never won more than 10 games, the Jackrabbits joined the Summit League in 2007 and shared the regular season championship three of the last four seasons. Under Nagy, South Dakota State qualified for three NCAA Division I Tournaments (2012, 2013, 2016), losing in the first round each time.

SDSU Assistant coach Rob Klinkefus will oversee team activities until a successor is hired.
