Each First Friday two other couples along with my wife and I choose a different Sioux Falls restaurant.

We take turns choosing and this week is our turn.  Now over the course of the last year we have enjoyed newly-opened establishments, legendary-Sioux Falls-original places, young chef driven joints but never a national chain eating place.

All three couples have diverse pallets and will try anything.  There was one month we chose a Spanish Prix Fixe menu at M.B. Haskett, monster walleye at Wild Sage Grille and shepherd's pie at McNally's.  You can't go wrong at Minerva's or Spezia.  And Sushi Masa.

Now it may be that when the weekend rolls around you have your favorite watering hole or dive that draws you to unwind from a long week.  A friendly face, great service, good food.  And I would guess that you are comfortable with that.  Comfort is good.  Don't get me wrong, I'm all for comfort.  But when it comes to Sioux Falls with so many eating choices it's rare that we eat at the same place.

This week we visit Chef Don Smith and Casa Del Ray.  Have you ever had his Southwestern Caesar Salad with jalapeno bacon?  Wow!
