Fire Destroys House in Western Sioux Falls

Fire damaged a home in western Sioux Falls early Wednesday.

Crews were called to the 5800 block of West Walden Drive shortly after midnight. (36th & Walden Dr.)

They arrived to find the deck at the rear of the house in flames, and a fire was visible through the basement windows and on the main floor.

The residents were out of the house when Sioux Falls Fire Rescue crews arrived. They were not injured, but their dog died in the fire.

The Battalion Chief says the contents of the house are a total loss. The residents are displaced and staying with family but say they plan to rebuild.

The cause is under investigation.
