I had a chance to visit with Kerri DeGraff of Feeding South Dakota about a project that could help those in need of food in our state.

Kerri tells me that the public can help by clicking their way to a grant from Walmart  and voting for Feeding South Dakota in the "Fighting Hunger Together" initiative---a national campaign where money is awarded to programs that get the most votes for their programs that help reduce hunger.

$60,000 will be awarded to each winning food bank.  $15,000 of those dollars will benefit partner feeding programs across the state.  In South Dakota those partners include the Banquet, Faith Temple Church, Oahe Family YMCA, Working Against Violence Inc., and YMCA of Rapid City.

Kerri says the public is able to vote for feeding programs across their state from now through October 5.  To vote for Feeding South Dakota, visit www.walmart,com/fighthunger.  Then search for South Dakota or Feeding South Dakota.  Individuals must have a Facebook account to vote.

If Feeding South Dakota gets the grant, Kerri says 300,000 meals will be provided to hungry children, adults and seniors across the state!
