A 38-year old mother of six is dead following a two car crash at Arrowhead Parkway and Sycamore Avenue in Sioux Falls New Year's Eve around 1:30am.

Sioux Falls Police say Tanya Sanchez was a passenger in a van that was hit by a drunk driver who ran the flashing red light at the intersection. Her husband and brother suffered minor injuries.

A candlelight vigil was held at Wednesday evening at the crash site. Sanchez' cousins say the kids are ages 1 to 18 and some have special needs. There are plans to set up a fund to help the children.

20-year old Oscar Madrigal was driving the vehicle that ran the flashing red light at the intersection, hitting Sanchez' van..

Madrigal was not injured in the fatal crash, but was arrested for vehicular homicide, second offense DWI, no driver's license, failure to obey traffic signals and an outstanding warrant.

Madrigal made his initial court appearance Thursday (January 2), Bond was set at $500,000. His blood alcohol content was nearly three times the legal limit.
